March 16, 2024 - I had a 1989 vintage - 90 points and a 2005 vintage - 96.
This one is the worst. Why?
Watery texture makes the wine without structure. It goes through your tongue and throat too quickly. Too sad, because the aromas are wonderful and the flavors are interesting.
Smell - fresh, strong, well defined aromas of red cherry, licorice, mint, oak, earth, vanilla.
Taste is full of red cherry ( nicest part), herbs, black tea and black chocolate. A lot of black pepper from the beginning to the end.
Dry finish.
2008 vintage got 91 points in St.Estpehe, according to the WA Vintage Guide.
Outstanding. Early maturing and accessible.

November 3, 2023 - Second time tasting this vintage. Pretty poor wine with some disagreeable elements to it. The nose is mostly wood and alcohol. Any fruit there is long gone. It has a taste of woody stems, fresh pungent herbs, cigarette smoke, balsamic and wood furniture. Stern and unfriendly. There is still quite a lot of rough tannin that fades into an astringent and bitter finish.
