  September 12, 2020 - 90s Leflaive wines are simply irresistible. This 1998 Bienvenues Batard Montrachet has the combination of tertiary nuances and reductive struckmatch scent. Bottle from a recent purchase from Tour d’Argent (hence the scruffy label). Tasted blind - Reductive yet old. Glossy nectarine, hints of honey and roasted nuts. Beautifuly nose with a chewy texture on the palate. Delicious. Drink now – 2032. Puligny Montrachet Les Pucelles 1997? Leflaive? (91/100) This was voted joint White WOTN along with the 2013 PYCM Chevalier Montrachet on Survey Monkey.

  September 4, 2020 - Visually this was the most developed in the flight and I quickly pinned this to late 90s and thought 97. It is a wine in a perfect drinking spot - lovely reduction, very good intensity and some caramel and yellow fruits on the satin finish. Very very good.

  October 20, 2019 - Tasted blind – The old Leflave reductive characteristic is transparent and expressive. Fully mature nose of ripe orchard fruits, some reduction left despite its maturity (hinting Leflaive), buttery toast, savoury nuts and touch of manuka honey. Full bodied, warm vintage (1999/ 1998), slight reduction (hinting Leflaive). Full bodied with Grand Cru Puligny characteristics, though not as vibrant or complex as the Chevalier or Batard. Leflaive? Bienvenues Batard Montrachet? 1998? (90-91/100)

  May 5, 2015 - Bright yellow gold color with a reflective edge. The nose gives off floral scents of jasmine, sunflower and sharp citrus fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky texture; slight butter; bright acidity. Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, limestone, stem, and vanilla are intensely present. Very feminine, delicate but persistent - definitely not a pushover. Finishes long with a hint of spice. The longer it stays in the glass, flavors of smoke begin to emerge. This is a fantastic wine! Drink now. 94

  January 8, 2014 - 1997 Burgundy Grand Cru Dinner (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon): Once again, I found this very good without being great, especially when served next to an absolutely overperforming 1998 Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet on the same flight. the nose was classic Leflaive, and we did not need a little peek of yellow foil on the top the blinded bottle for us to guess this correctly. It had drifts of gunflint and slate, ripe red apples and some stone fruit, with fragrant side-notes of flowers and toasted vanilla and smoked hazelnuts. Nice. The palate had a rich ripeness on the attack - red apples at the fore once more, with sweet lemons chasing behind - but there was also a nice purity to it, with gentle acidity and good structure lending the fruit a sense of focus and balance. I thought it was maybe missing some oomph, but this was a wine of great elegance and finesse with a gentle depth to it. It quiet length on the finish as well, with a little twist of spice nestling amongst some sweet white fruit. Maybe a tad better than the last bottle I had, but still not the most exciting Leflaive, especially given the quality of the plot. It is drinking nicely though.
