March 21, 2022 - Huge acid and tannins still. Possibly at the expense of some of the fruit. It is getting old. One left. Will decant for 5 or 6 hours and see if it rounds out any. - feb 2-24 wow wow wow. a good place right now- thought this LAST bottle might have problems due to the previous bottles awkwardness, but this is a great finale. balanced acid and tannins, saline and perfume, mocha, marzipan, medium finish, but good to see its hanging in very nicely. great mid body. see what the night brings.- if you have any of this, keep it for 2-5 years. wonderful treasure.

September 22, 2019 - love this wine! and so much more youthful than the tired 2008 drunk alongside

  • marcelk Does not like this wine:

July 18, 2019 - It didn't show TCA but it was all acid and no fruit, on its way to vinegar.

March 31, 2019 - Light red. Burgundy like aromas, with red fruits, minerals and some liquorice. Intense, concentrated and focused on the palate. I am not familiar with aged Etna wines, but this seems to be at its peak. Impressive!

January 3, 2019 - fabulous wine - fully mature - unique, complex and long - lovely but not at all sure where it will go from here

(Passopisciaro Passopisciaro) Medium cranberry red color with pale meniscus; intriguing, minerally, dried red fruit, cranberry nose; oak, tart red fruit, currant palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish

(PASSOPISCIARO) Etna Dear Friends, We've offered quite a few wines from Andrea Franchetti of late but they all deserve attention and then some. His portfolio has never been stronger and we will continue to present the wines as they are released to us. While I was in Puglia last month, I nursed a bottle of the 2007 Passopisciaro over nearly a week's time (two of those days with Frank Cornelissen, who was quite smitten with the quality of this wine) - if there was ever a poster child for a new sense of the modern, it is Passopisciaro - a wine bent on allowing the century old (or even pre-phyloxera) vines to speak for themselves...with the small stamp of Franchetti's Fellini-esque carnival dangling underneath the surface. Where the 2006 version of this wine had power first, this wine seduces with its velvet dancing texture and mountain fruit. Almost an oxymoron at this latitude (it would be like calling grapes grown on Kilimanjaro cool-climate), the towering scope and weather producing influence of Mt. Etna cannot be underestimated. This is an area that has a ski area perched above palm trees and cactus (think Mauna Kea but still active). Like 2008 in Bordeaux (versus 2005), I'm not sure many of the 2006 Etna examples are "better" than their more elegant 2007 counterparts - they are just different. Whatever the reasoning, this is a 2007 that should be tasted by all collectors bent on education and curiosity regarding one of the more cutting edge (and dynamic) regions of the world: VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for subtle grace and eccentric exoticism in a Burgundian frame: 2007 Passopisciaro "Passopisciaro" (Andrea Franchetti/Etna) (this is not the Guardiola) 2007 Passopisciaro "Passopisciaro" (Andrea Franchetti/Etna) 1.5lt 2007 Passopisciaro "Passopisciaro" (Andrea Franchetti/Etna) 3.0lt ...we also have EXTREMELY LIMITED large formats of the 2006 Le Cupole from Tenuta di Trinoro. If you have a dinner party or large gathering in the fall (or even at holiday time), this is a very reasonably priced magnum (or 3.0/6.0) at the highest end: 2006 Le Cupole (Trinoro) 1.5lt (the magnums are bottled from the best 2-3 barrels) 2006 Le Cupole (Trinoro) 3.0lt (hand bottled, hand corked from the very best barrel) 2006 Le Cupole (Trinoro) 6.0lt (also hand bottled, hand corked from the very best barrel) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy6891 Italy6892 Italy6893 Italy6894 Italy6895 Italy9896
