September 11, 2014 - Probably better on day 2... A bit acidic and sharp. Maybe needs to decant longer

August 31, 2014 - My Grade: EX. I really like that Heitz do not release their wines until they are good and ready. Usually, they are worth waiting for and this is no exception. Deep opaque purple in the glass, potent nose of jammy cassis, licorice, oak, menthol, full, mouth-filling fruit on the palate with cassis, blueberries, chocolate, medium acidity and prominent alchohol. Mid palate has fine drying tannins and finish is very long with juicy cranberry. Has longer to go before reaching peak.

July 25, 2014 - Wow, loads of complexity with a finish that lasted and lasted. Nice mix of fruit and earth with well integrated tannin. Many good years left here.

July 8, 2014 - Decent Napa cab, produced in more of an old school style than most modern Napa cabs. The fruit is present but muted, with additional flavors of tar and leather -- showing secondary flavors earlier than expected. Quite nice.

July 7, 2014 - Typical fruity Heitz Napa Cab. I love their style of winemaking but wish you could taste more of the valley floor in their cabs. I usually just get a fistful of different berries and flowers in their Napa cabs whereas the Martha or Bella Oaks has a little more earthiness to it. That said I still love this wine. Held it's own against a smoked pork butt and peppers! No need to rush into drinking as it still has many years left.
