From Magnum. Crowd pleaser, uncomplicated, solid fruit, good length. 87-88

April 18, 2022 - From 75cl, v. good cork. Decanted 1 hour. Generic, big-bodied, squeaky-clean, modern-style Rioja with good concentration, dark fruit, and not-quite resolved tannins. A pleasant but boring highly-polished new-wave Spanish wine, a terrible waste of new oak barriques, but you can't blame anyone for trying their best to make a silk purse out of the material available. I just wish I hadn't fallen for the hype and paid 50 EUR back in 2009. 87–88P

November 29, 2016 - Sweet dark berry fruit, bigarreau, mint, chocolate, but good acidity, freshness, smooth tannins. Very much in the international style but very good.

August 4, 2013 - On the eye the wine reveals a dark core with bright crimson rims. Quite round and elegant aromas of sweet plums, blackberries, cedar, balsamic notes, Indian spices, incense, a touch of menthol, and crushed stones. Silky smooth texture on the palate with flavors of plums, blackberries, black cherries on entry with a midpalate filled with licorice, dark chocolate, espresso that leads to a finish of moderathe length filled with Indian spices, and creamy vanilla.

October 29, 2011 - Note: tasted along Clio 2006 on a tasting event. Decanted two hours before tasting.
This wine had a tough competitor, but I think they finally tied the score. Very different, close to Burgundy wines without refusing its Rioja origins. Despite its decanting the wine needed more time to develop its aromas and nuances, and I found myself secretly enjoying this wine while others were finishing its Clio 2006 glasses. This has to mean something, hasn't it?

October 23, 2010 - On the nose plum and blueberry aromas with creamy and spicy notes. On the palate soft tannins despite its youth, good acidity, red fruit, toasty notes, wood (vanilla) subtle and perfectly integrated and spicy flavours. The soft and long aftertaste reminds me on Burgundy wines recently tasted, which is flattering (in my opinion) for a Rioja wine. Quite elegant, it will improve in next years.
