September 28, 2019 - Crimson in color. 14.4% ABV. Classic nose of red fruits, olive brine, blood and flowers. Medium body with exceptional acidity. Bold and concentrated. Well balanced with tremendous minerality. Cherries, olives, grilled meats, umami and cracked pepper on the palate. The finish is long and seamless. Stunning Syrah that embodies the very best characteristics of the Rocks District. Best over the next 1-3 years.

April 3, 2019 - Last bottle of '07 In the Rocks, the wine that started us on the Reynvaan bandwagon in 2009 from a small wine shop in Seattle. Last bottle, breaking our collection of every one of Reynvaan's syrahs since they started. The aroma is of a fully mature wine, with black raspberry, smoke, roasted meats, earth, touch of bacon, and toasty French oak. Very viscous, thick "legs". Full-bodied flavors, which build on the palate. Perfectly smooth and balanced, acidity just right, tannin very soft. A very long aftertaste, lingers for almost a minute, smoky dark fruits. Just a bit hot on the palate and aftertaste. Basically, this is an American version of Guigal's single vineyard wines, at a fraction of the price (I bought it in 2009 for $45 at a retail shop and have cellared it since). It will last several more years, but nothing's to be gained by holding it, so just drink and enjoy!

August 30, 2018 - Was this their first? Amazingly good if so. Aired for an hour and drank over the next four. Wonderful throughout - great texture, balanced and showed great fruit.

May 25, 2018 - Peaking right now. Great fruit and baron funky qualities but not overpowering. Especially good 2nd night so go for long decant.

12/22/2009 (link) **** points(Reynvaan Family Vineyards In the Rocks Syrah Walla Walla Valley) An aromatic wine with smoke, bacon fat, potting soil, lots of floral notes, vegetable aromas, fruit, and savory notes. Vibrant on the palate with a lot of intense fruit flavors. Dips just a bit in the mid-palate and isn’t entirely filled out at times but this will change as the vineyard matures. An excellent first release from this winery. Syrah co-fermented with 6.5% Viognier and 1.5% Marsanne. 14.44% alcohol.
