December 17, 2021 - Deep, dark, clear red colour. A touch of smoke and tar on the nose. Lovely balance - cherry, balsamic and a bit of forest floor. A touch of acid brightness. In a really nice place.

October 2, 2021 - Spectacular wine. Well balanced tannins, black cherry. Enjoyed with smoked prime rib. Certainly in a great drinking window now.

November 9, 2020 - Lone bottle, personally cellared for over 9 years, decanted, poured back in bottle resealed and tasted 2 day LATER.

Pleasant dark fruit, hints of alcohol, dark currants, some blackberry, smooth finish with tart black cherry and woody notes. Fully integrated tannins, ready to drink but could hold for a few more years in the proper environment.

August 28, 2020 - drank from a mag...initial nose was brooding and funky, but then revealed lovely red and black fruit notes. Licorice and a bit of earthiness join the fruit when tasted...drinking very well right now, no need to wait.

April 20, 2020 - Drank alongside a 2004 Stoplman Santa Ynez Valley Syrah. Both wines were very nice. The Dead Arm was bright and lively in appearance and had more youthful look. The aromas were all fruit and a peppery spice, with just a bit of vanilla bean as well. The mouth feel was very nice; strong tannins that coated your mouth with a smooth velvety feel. Nice blackberry fruit and the pepper spice is there too. Completely different styles of syrah based wines and both had plenty to offer and enjoy.
