February 24, 2017 - Opened after an unfortunately oxidized bottle of 88 Pic 1er Cru Chablis. Forgot that I have had this wine before. Slightly darker but still more pale than medium yellow. White fruit, a touch of Anise on the nose, beautiful palate with a fine texture, rather sweet for a Chablis but not at all unpleasant as it's accurately drawn with good acidity and none of voluptuousness vintages like the 2009 often show. Good, explosive finish with plenty of minerals. 93-94. I liked this a lot even though it's not the most typical Chablis, and I wonder whether I would not enjoy once more the 2008 Montee de Tonnerre over the Les Clos. More like a white that could appeal to Riesling drinkers, with this slight softness (for a Chablis) and sweetness and almost bubbliness on the palate, while it does not have the oak, whites from communes further South in Burgundy typically show.

February 21, 2017 - PnP. Cork wet about a quarter up. Light greenish gold in color - no obvious pre-mox. Saline, sea air, limestone on the nose. Medium weight on the palate, clean, but not impressive. Long finish. With further air this developed a lovely silky palate presence and the finish became better integrated. For a Clos from a good vintage this is not better than low average - disappointing. Not as good as the Boguerots.

January 25, 2017 - No notes on the day. But remember thinking this was too much oak. Not in a good balance fruit/wood.

January 21, 2017 - Lemon, saline, mineral, oyster shell. Palate is medium bodied and shows intensity with flavours that follow the nose. Delicious.
