April 23, 2016 - Occasional dinner group; A vertical of 15 vintages Clos des Papes and some great extra's. (@ B in SvG): Beautiful and concentrated bouquet with apricots, tangerine, orange zest and botrytis. On the palate all impressions return; beautiful sweetness and great fresh citrus acidity. Great length. A great wine with a long future ahead.

March 27, 2016 - Quite a deep colour, yellow/gold; this is quite rich, with hints of marmalade and burnt sugar. Lacks a little acidity compared to many 2001s, but is otherwise very enjoyable. Drinking well now.

    From a half bottle.

February 23, 2016 - A very deep, bronze colour. Rich, sweet, with marmalade and burnt sugar notes. Concentrated and long. This is fully mature and may even be starting to maderise slightly, but it is none the worse for that. This was from a half bottle, so larger formats may have further to go.

January 13, 2016 - This was a 1/2 bottle popped after a 10+ year old Cab tasting. The color was medium gold, the legs were long, as to be expected, and the nose was scented with stone fruits, tropical fruits honey suckle and a hint of petrol. On the palate, you could taste honey, apricots, caramel notes, and a hint of pineapple. The wine was not overly sweet and had enough acid to balance the sugar. The finish was long and delicious. Everything was well integrated, and I do not see this wine improving much more with age, but I do see it holding steady (with perhaps slight improvement), for quite a few years. I would feel comfortable either drinking this wine now, or holding this wine for at least up to another 10 years. Was my only bottle, so I will not have to worry about that issue!

January 9, 2016 - Good. Not great. Lacking the acidity I think great Sauternes needs. Best with peppery Waygu.
