May 20, 2016 - Light gold in color, nose of sweet honeyed apricots and candied lemon. Broad, dense, nearly syrupy. Plenty of sweetness and body, acidity is fair to good to buttress it all. More secondary notes seem evident with air. Might be best to hold this a bit longer.

May 13, 2016 - Glorious sticky here. In early maturity, showing some classic hallmarks of an older Sauternes while retaining the power of a youngster. Quite aromatic, expressive with apricot, saline, oyster shell, terrific acidity and length, not a hair out of place. Hard to imagine this going higher, but it could. Will probably last for ages. 94-95 pts.

May 3, 2016 - From 375. Marmalade and a touch of saffron on the nose. On the palate, apricot, orange marmalade, light pineapple, and a note of something tropical (mango?), with good acidity balanced against the sugar. This doesn't have the penetrating acidity of most 2001s, but it is still nicely balanced and tasty.

May 2, 2016 - A deep yellow colour, gold tending towards bronze; this is rich and full, with good acidity; there are flavours of honey, marmalade, barley sugar and even a touch of burnt sugar; this seems to be at its peak now and is an excellent example. From a half bottle.

April 23, 2016 - Occasional dinner group; A vertical of 15 vintages Clos des Papes and some great extra's. (@ B in SvG): Beautiful and concentrated bouquet with apricots, tangerine, orange zest and botrytis. On the palate all impressions return; beautiful sweetness and great fresh citrus acidity. Great length. A great wine with a long future ahead.
