March 12, 2017 - This showed the classic notes of orange marmelade, apricot, etc., but it was lacking in acidity; when I got to the bottom of the bottle I discovered a fingernail-sized chip of tartaric acid that had precipitated out. I don't know whether this got too cold at some point, or if something else caused it, but this wasn't as good as it could have been because of the lack of acid. Even so, it was certainly drinkable and pleasant.

March 4, 2017 - Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Enticing floral start that almost always makes me enjoy Tour Blanche. Rich and complex flavors start sweet, then botrytis comes forward, then lots of fruit. Very fun, very good.

February 24, 2017 - From 37,5cl, perfect cork. Lifted, balanced, rich (evidently Sauternes rather than Barsac). Lip-smacking balance between lively acidity and ripe dried apricot fruit; superb minty finish. Amazingly light for such a rich wine. My best experience with LTB2001 since 2009. I'd say this is in a luscious phase of early maturity, with many years to go. 93(-94)P

February 2, 2017 - Bordeaux dinner at Ripple with live rendition of the Star Spangled Banner (Ripple Restaurant in DC): Intense ripe nose displaying peach cobbler, dry apricot, sweet spices, dark honey and caramel. 10W-40, rich and opulent, medium acidity and a long intense sweet finish. It is a bit cloying for my palate, like eating a spoonful of apricot jam… twice! IMO, this will improve easily for the next few decades, becoming more precise as it loses the fruit.

February 2, 2017 - Fit for a wine loving Groundhog: Bordeaux back to 1970, by way of a 1982 trio (Ripple Restaurant in Washington D.C.): The color is much darker as compared to the 1988 Climens, and indeed the notes from this half bottle seem a bit more evolved, with more roasted aspects and some hints of dry fruit, and yet there is pleasing botrytis spice and rich ripe fruit along with notions of toffee that are pleasing, if not as nuanced as the Climens 1988.
