February 23, 2024 - Not oxidized this time! Apple, pear, Quince, light honey. Solid structure, has at least a decade left on it.

December 3, 2023 - Popped and poured. Better bottle than the last one. Medium bodied. Nicely mature fruit basket of orange peel, tropical fruit, a little cinnamon. Elegant and balanced. Medium depth. Probably drinking close to peak maturity.

December 2, 2023 - The comeback kid. 2nd bottle a far superior experience than prior opened a few years back. This was intact and showed power and structure. Served against a butternut squash soup dish, but leftovers held up well in the fridge over a couple days too. I understand better now the long projected age the community has given this. Richly textured with golden coloring but not firm and not very sweet. Stone fruit notes that took a bit to unfurl in the glass. Contemplative. A good pair to the soup - the cream and herb notes allowed the wine to take the high notes and cut against the soup.

October 25, 2023 - Popped and poured. Fairly mature. Spring flowers, bake apples and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is open knit, medium to full bodied, a little flabby, low acidity for a Chenin. This isn’t bad but it’s not aged that well either.

April 23, 2023 - Suffering (?) from premox. That said, it didn't detract from the wine. Peach, pear, touch of cream, honey. Sherry notes as well. Not sure if it's just this bottle, but concerned about holding it much longer when it's drinking well now.

March 15, 2023 - Baked apple, bright fruit, hint of sweetness. Good acid and balance, medium weight. A touch of honey. Great maturity, lovely and full with a very long finish. No rush. Really excellent.

    May 29, 2022 - From 375ml.

Such a strange, interesting wine. On opening, the nose was completely closed. After 4 days corked in the fridge, it finally opened up into a wild mix of honeyed sweetness, intense citrus, and funky / musty notes.

Keeping it in the fridge, I followed the wine for 2 weeks. It continued to evolve in utterly strange ways…more interesting than delicious but still enjoyable.

October 1, 2021 - Not as good as the previous bottle of Le Haut Lieu from the same vintage – possible bottle variation with this one.
