April 30, 2014 - Very ripe red fruits, light roasted notes, there’s surprising acid for vintage but seems a bit unintegrated. Others liked more than I did. B-/C+

January 24, 2014 - Opened 1/2 hr before dinner but it needs more time than that. Medium bodied St. Joseph with nice acidity to pair well with sautéed port chops with dijon and sautéed spinach. Nose of cherry, tobacco, earth and fallen apples. Nice integrated flavors of bright cherry, tobacco leaf, soil, and spiced apple cider. Wine is surprisingly young - I would not open for another 3+ years.

December 8, 2013 - A St. Joseph from the torrid 2003 vintage that while having fully ripe flavors displays some of the "hot rubber", "asphalt" tonal notes I find in a lot of hot vintage wines, or in wines from very hot areas (like in the hottest areas of Spain). With food it was a decent glass of wine but not one I'd go to for sipping by itself.

June 29, 2013 - Nice. And this has quite a few years still to go.

May 9, 2013 - This was much better than expected. Near all other European 2003s have been high alcohol and over ripe. This one is ripe but not overripe and shows a lot of balance. Drank over three days and showed best on the second day. Ripe black berry, floral notes and touch of leather and lightly smoked meat. Decent finish.

(J.L. Chave Sélection St. Joseph Offerus) Very appealing nose of boysenberry and blackberry jam on toast; big, w/firm tannins and finely grained black fruit, medium finish (needs time but likely to be beautiful in a few years) 92 pts
