Community Tasting Notes 5

November 28, 2022 - A bit past prime, I think. It had raisin and fig fruit components with a hint of fresher fruit. Plenty of other stuff going on as well. The 15.3% alcohol wasn't noticeable, but I think it was reasonably balanced by the high acidity. Overall a good wine but not as impressive as some of the other Ravenswood library wines.

May 28, 2006 - Another similar sample. Time to drink these up. This particular bottle showed a bit more fruit and fun that the other recent bottles, but I still wish I drank these earlier.

May 25, 2006 - Still holding on to some fruit, although it is quite subdued. The tannins seem a bit harsher on this bottle. A bit agressive and astringent. I need to drink these up younger to maximize fuit enjoyment.

May 6, 2006 - A very nice, civilized zin. Tannins are resolved and the balance is quite nice. However, I can't help think this is boring. Black fruits, some spice, but lacks zing. I really think this has peaked and although it won't decline suddenly, I doubt it will get better. Drink up.

September 26, 2000 - Very dark in color. Nice nose of crushed black fruits, and cola. Full mid palate. Very ripe, with some raisins, but not pruney. Nice finish. Complex and complete. Long spicy finish. Good structure.
