February 20, 2013 - I was very surprised by this "wine." I got it as a stocking stuffer and didn't think much of it at the time. However, I'm willing to give anything at least a taste before I toss it out, and this unexpectedly came off as a rather pleasant dessert.
Nose is very much like Irish cream liqueur. I could not really detect any attributes from the wine portion initially, but towards the end of the glass slight aromas of cherry did come through over the chocolate.
It has a thinner viscosity than Irish cream, which is enough to enjoy an entire glass after dinner. Any more than a glass in one sitting, though, is a bit much.
Taste has some hints of berry, which only opened up after the glass was allowed to sit out and warm a bit. I opened the bottle at 53F, and finished tasting at just a hair below room temperature.
There is nothing terribly sophisticated about it; the tasting notes are very simple and slight yet they seem to compliment the chocolate cream well. This might be a favorable alternative to the more common chocolate liqueurs out there, whether used as a standalone drink or integrated into a cooking recipe.2 people found this helpful Comment -
