February 9, 2013 - Another exceptionally well crafted cabernet sauvignon made by Justin Neufeld.
Scents of black currants, tobacco, bacon fat, toast and deep earth surged from the glass. Rich and decadent, this polished wine showed blackberries, exotic spices of mahleb and nigella seeds in keeping with crushed igneous rock and concentrated dried fruits. (Gilbert Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Wahluke Slope) A clean aroma profile with blackberries, raspberries, and licorice. The palate has a rich, full feel with grippy tannins and a tart finish. Oak gets a bit intense at times.
