Community Tasting Notes 5

July 17, 2015 - Two bottles, one corked the other one quite lovely. Sweetness now lmuch in the background to make way to a cery interesting and intensive flavour profile.

January 25, 2013 - Others on the table noted more than 95 for this bottle.

Very interesting color that led to some discussions: Orange-brown with a slim lining of green (looked exactly like fresh olive oil).

Nose with fresh bean butter (using green beans and butter, made that a month ago, thats why I recall the smell/taste), Cognac notes, "curry" (curryplant, fresh, I would add), "baked apples", green notes, wax, orange, Kraut (of course, as this was a German tasting and we were near to midnight :) ), complex.

Palate: beautiful, balanced, mid complexity, good acid (balance).

I (and the majority of the attendees) missed something and did not give him very high points (see above), but very experienced sommeliers on the same table voted differently...

Served at the "11 alte Einhoerner" ( old unicorns) blind tasting at MWC, thanks Steffen.

April 15, 2012 - All-sauternes dinner (Jardiniere, SF): Copper-rusty brown colored; copper, metallic; fabulous balance with apricot, caramel, absolutely lovely acidity. This is a stellar wine, a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience, and possibly even young for its age. Superb!

April 15, 2012 - Caramel tinged pineapple acidity, absolutely needed a half hour to come together. Lovely balance and long finish.

April 14, 2005 - Tasted blind. Pale rusty brown colour - impossible to tell whether this was from a red grape or white grape. Fresh, elegant nose with notes of candied fruit. Grip and acidity very good, and a fantastically long finish. Ethereal. Amazing wine, with a level of freshness that was quite astonishing.
