April 22, 2016 - Still magnificent and opulent, very open on the nose after a 30 min decant. Exotic and erotic with kinky leather, tea, kirsch and touch of undergrowth and red bell peppers (in a good and balanced way). Great mouthful, still full of glycerin and full of life. Magnificent drinking now but glad I still have 17 left in the cellar as no rush to drink.

April 16, 2016 - Decent red berries, some cassis, licorice, more elegant than the Clinet 1989, ripe tannins, fresh acidity, long life ahead, long aftertaste at least 10 more years, for me in the beginning of his drin king window, 96-97

April 16, 2016 - Mature, and serving up a liberal dose of sweet plum, truffle and cocoa, the tannins show their soft, silky side, finishing with elegant cherries in the end note. This is at full maturity, if you have a bottle, there is no need to wait to pop a cork.

March 31, 2016 - L'Evangile v. L'Eglise Clinet (Tocqueville): Beautiful and expressive bouquet of eucalyptus, gamey meats, mint, menthol, leathers, and ripe black cherry. Red roses. Palate is fully developed and features some tertiary notes. Soft red cherry. In a great place for drinking right now but can certainly hold on longer. Wine of the night spanning l'Evangile and l'Eglise Clinet from 2010 to 1989, slightly more expressive and with better energy than the '89 l'Evangile. Very pretty, very elegant, very good.

March 25, 2016 - 1989/1990 Right Bank Bordeaux tasting (Vienna Cafe & Wine Bar): Charming. This continues to be a really unique wine from l’Evangile. This was quite different from the other wines at the tasting. Red fruits, chocolate and sous bois. A bit lighter on the palate, almost seeming Burgundian at times. Still has noticeable tannic structure, with its ultra-soft tannins. High acidity creating a nice brightness on the finish. This is a very charming wine, especially if you like the light, elegant style. While some have reported bottle variation with this wine, this wine was spot-on with the last bottle tasted several months ago.
