August 22, 2022 - Completely mature now. Fresh juicy blackberries, creme de cassis, ink, spicebox and cocoa, lovely refreshing acidity, medium bodied.
Gorgeous savory and mineral notes give this wine some old-world soul, restraint and elegance.

    April 29, 2020 - Yessss…. \,,/,

Still young, fresh and full of dark fruit. Infusions of baconfat starting to emerge now. Double yummy.

February 27, 2020 - Yeah, this wine is still drinking well. I was skeptical with my first sips of the first bottle, but as I've been drinking through the six I bought, I have been enjoying them every time. I agree with other posters that this wine is youthful enough that it still improves with air and time.

December 12, 2019 - At first I was a bit disappointed and felt that the wine drank rather simply. I thought maybe I’d just missed its prime years. But this wine won me over. All the treasures are there. There’s some dark fruit, some zesty red fruit that’s almost Zinlike, a little fruit liqueur, and a touch of herbs and bramble, even.

We only drank half of the bottle the day we opened it. It is now two full days later and I think the wine is actually improved.

March 4, 2017 - PnP. Quite aromatic and fresh on the nose. On the palate, less heavy than I had thought given the depth of the nose. Acidity keeps the overall impression relatively lighter than it would otherwise be. The high ABV is noticeable, but not in a particularly overt way. Overall, still comes across as relatively primary. Not sure where this is going for further aging. Not sure if the acidity will further fold into the overall palate, or instead be the "last man standing" as the fruit fades.

Update: Decant. This really benefits from at least 30 minutes of air. Individual components of the palate meld, and create a much more lush impression, and a much more complex one. The finish also extends nicely compared to the initial impression. I should know better. This went from "ok" to "damn nice".

August 13, 2016 - Liked this way better than I remember (probably haven't had a bottle since ~2010).... Big still relative to other bedrock Syrahs but well integrated and "makes sense". Still quite fruit driven and ripe. Blueberry with a bit of ripe blackberry spice. Just feels great, and too easy to drink for a 15%+ wine!

December 21, 2015 - I would never guess this was over 15%. Some nice black fruits, olive, grilled meat and a bit of pepper on the nose. Smooth with blackberry and elderberry flavors, along with a some beef jerky, bbq and tar. Has cool-climate structure with integrated medium acidity and medium+ tannins, no heat. Should easily last through its 10th birthday but drinking well now.
