November 12, 2020 - On opening there was some prominent smoke and deep maple that struck me as rather unique. An hour later, nose speaks of plum, blueberry, rum cake, and strawberry-rhubarb pie. Lighter fruits initially on the palate... raspberry and boysenberry, which gives way to mushroom, dirt, and fruity earth. Long delicious finish. Marvelous. Drink now or within 5 years.

June 14, 2014 - Big nose of strawberry and cherry, very big. Darker fruits, plums, spice and fig. Good length, a very enjoyable bottle. Cool summer evening, no wind, peaceful and calm.

November 23, 2013 - At Barrel Room. Another SRH winner. Nose is probably best part with nice spice and red fruit. I only got one glass as this was polished off by 4 of us before we could blink.

February 25, 2013 - Not a usual Santa Barbara pinot, especially not for a vineyard so close to the ocean. Those wine is big, plump and juicy. With fruit that drowns out any notion of earth or elegant tannin structure. There is structure and there is minerality. The structure ones in mid body while the earth is in the finish. I woul drink over the next three years.

January 16, 2013 - A tiny bit reductive upon first opening, but blows off pretty quickly....juicy, tart red fruit....on the riper side but with great acidity....

November 18, 2012 - Disappointing for a Sanford. Didn't have the rich cherry I'm expected. Some interesting spice on the backend.
