May 27, 2018 - The color has lightened from a couple of years ago. While still dark it is not entirely an opaque burgundy. cherry and brown sugar at the head of the class while rhubarb, herbs and cedar fill in the from there. If this wine was muted two years ago, it is no longer and seems to be singing at full volume. Maybe it will improve more; it certainly will hold its own for several years to come what with the full tannins an ripe fruit. A balanced wine that drinks younger and brighter than the Lytton Springs pulled for comparison. Heavy sediment at the shoulder. Always 100% Zin. 14.6% alc. With smoked pork ribs (smoked then finished in the oven). 05.27.18. Recommended.

May 9, 2017 - Past its prime, unfortunately. Flat and dull. Should have had it at least 2 years ago.

December 27, 2016 - Super good - ridin' high. Balanced, smooth, rich dark flavors. Love it. Wish I had more...

** Day 2 - it gets better. Completely open now, displaying bramble and spice in full effect, with a silky smooth delivery that'll keep you going back for more... This is it. This bottle demonstrates why I have an unabashed love for Zinfandel. 100%.

July 16, 2016 - This always 100% Zin is surprisingly youthful. The color says, “Let me sleep!” just like a teenager on a school morning. The color from rim to core is an opaque burgundy. So youthful that it’s still tight and not giving up a tremendous amount on the nose and palate. Nevertheless, the nose gives some rhubarb, cherry, brown sugar, herbs and cedar. Most of those characteristics come through on the palate, but in a muted, restrained, almost introverted way. Maybe a touch of chocolate spills out on the finish, but man, this is a tight wine. Give it time. Heavy sediment has formed on the shoulder. 14.6% alc. With grilled beef kabobs. Recommended.

January 13, 2015 - Just starting to show secondary aromas and flavors. A mild sediment on decant. 2 hours air later and the wine is soft but expressive. Tannins have become incredibly silky textured. The fruit isn't as hot as earlier bottles and the oaky background has backed off. Drinking great now but has at least another couple years of improvement left. Best Zin of the new year!

September 11, 2014 - Nose of briary plum fruit, baking spice, earth. Flavors of jam with solid acidity, a vegetal earthiness, a hint of spice. Nicely integrated, food friendly.

August 29, 2014 - Very enjoyable. A big wine, but I think they *might* have decided to leave a (small) bit of RS instead of letting the alc spike too high. Smooth tasty fruit, with a bit of a sweet edge. Nice tannins and reasonable acidity. Remarkably well balanced for the style
