Community Tasting Notes 8

March 21, 2013 - Interesting, it put my mind to Italian Piedirosso. It's a bit all over the place, but that's what makes it interesting. It features barnyard, wet haystack, and unique minerality on the nose and palate. Acid and tannins are good and the finish is medium. Good concentration and not as edgy as other Bierzo offerings. Other than an ugly label, it's a good bottle of wine. Maybe 90.

January 15, 2013 - Last bottle from a purchase of two. Decanted 40 minutes. Today we have an aromatic wine with quite a bit of interest. Fruit at the core surrounded by mineral and milled green peppercorns. Huge drying tannins make this impossible to drink solo. Pizza being delivered - see if that helps. Lively attack from the mid-palate through the finish. Super long almost abrasive in closing. Ground pepper sensation permeates to nose upon swallowing. Interesting to say the least.
