June 30, 2023 - 21st of 24, decanted 30 minutes, perfect level, quarter soaked cork, better than bottles earlier in year, more flesh and mid palate drive, fine line, length and layering as ever, nice citric cut, some upside based on this bottle showing at the more youthful end after 21 years, 10 years. VF (18.5).

June 5, 2023 - This again opened beautifully with a mature golden colour and a nose that initially was a bit tight and musty but which opened over an hour with Meyer lemon, green apples, pineapple, limestone and touches of honey, white flowers and nutmeg. The palate shows pure rich fruit characters with a savoury edge of nutmeg, straw and honey. There is terrific drive and grip in this wine that finishes with quite intense minerality. This a very fine mature Corton.

May 24, 2023 - A great, though quite mature nose of candied orange peel, nuts, brown butter and dried heather.

Fine, though still prominent tannins, a fair bit of oak. Cinnamon, limestone, a saline influence and a long finish with caramel and dried mushroom.

Burgundy-Report

(Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne) Medium-pale lemon-yellow. A high-toned, slightly alcoholic nose that slowly turns from green to yellow-skinned fruit. The palate already shows fine, soft texture and an impressive length. Sweet from the ripe fruit with super balancing acidity. This is a very round and tasty wine that shows a modest burst of fireworks on the mid-palate. Already the oak is mainly consumed - very good Corton-Charlemagne. I'd drink this over the next 18 months and then leave the rest for 8+ years.

(Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne) A young, pale colour. A wine whose aromatics major on fruit. Seems fat, but needs just a little more time as there's still a little oak marking the palate. Gives the impression of lower acidity, but perhaps that's due to the extra fat. Probably starting to sing as you read this - or leave until 2015+
