May 29, 2020 - popped and poured, very drinkable now. Slight hint of spice not the meaty/iron like flavor of some Syrah, fresher. Great spot now, drink away. paired with Porterhouse slght seasoning

November 15, 2019 - Lots of black fruits in the nose and flavor. Black cherries, currants, black raspberries, with some licorice, spice, and floral. Full bodied and a medium to long finish.

September 1, 2019 - This is my first bottle of this delicious Syrah. Drank with slow cooker pot roast. The color was very inky. This mature Syrah was well balanced and concentrated with loads of fruit, licorice, herbs and earth. Absolutely loved it and happy to have a few more in the cellar. Drink or hold.

May 12, 2018 - The nose was dark and rich with crushed, spiced blackberry, plum and violet pastilles, which were perfectly offset by smoky minerals, pepper and dusty dried florals. On the palate, I found soft, creamy textures, yet not weighty, with spicy baked cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon as zesty acids added liveliness and drenching black fruits. It finished long and spicy with lingering dark fruit, spice and the slightest hint of heat. Another remakable value from Carlisle, wow!

July 28, 2017 - Part of a blind syrah tasting at Old Woodward Cellars. 12 bottles, although 2 were the same wine. We disclosed the first 6 bottles after tasting. The Carlisle was the# 7 tasted, the 1st bottle of the second 6. Immediately everyone commented that this was a great wine and was the #1 wine of the tasting.
A 2014 Kind Lampyridae vineyard, was excellent, 93 pts and a clear #2 IMO. Also tasted a 2003 Domaine Janet Cote-Rotie, (maybe corked), 2 M.Chapoutier Hermitage La Sizeranne, 89 pts, A 2004 Coach House BcH, 91pts, and several others.
I was pleased that the Carlisle was such a standout and reinforces my opinion that Mike Officer makes great wine, especially for the price

March 24, 2017 - Some great wines with the boy Scouts - Year 2 (BSA Fundraiser): Always nice to be able to drink a Carlisle with some age on it as I am terrible in not drinking them too early. Thanks Chris. Purple in color. The nose has a great note of black olive on it along with some black raspberries and a bit or pepper. On the palate, this is pretty ripe and still youthful. Black raspberries and a bit peppery. Great texture. Good balance. Delicious now but some upside left to cellaring it.
