April 17, 2014 - San Francisco; 4/15/2014-4/18/2014 (San Francisco Area): By the glass at Chez Panisse
A product of cooperation between Barbeito and America's The Rare Wine Co to produce Madeira wines representative of America's Madeira cities. Semi dry with a nutty feel, good acidity , well round and ready now. Interesting style. 90
April 4, 2014 - Opened three days prior, recorked after taking a small sip each night. The nose is slightly muted on this relative to the sercial, but I detect a similar nuttiness (walnuts?), creme brulee, prunes, and a saline note that is reminiscent of an ocean breeze. Like the Sercial, this one is full bodied with coffee, nuts, prunes, and a sweetness similar to bourbon (without the heat). There remains plenty of acidity and the finish is moderate to long.

March 22, 2014 - Madeira with Eric Ifune (Sunnyvale, CA): Deep brown caramel; moderate intensity nose; slight sweetness, mild complexity with slight nuttiness, still great freshness; short to medium finish. 89

February 12, 2014 - A medium dark amber color with good concentration; slight caramel note with roasted nut and molasses and aldehydes with a slight softness from a honied sweetness. High acidity keeps it lively and helps the flavors pop. Fantastic, delicous.
