April 2, 2015 - Nice mid week wine, with plenty of spice and leather notes to match the red fruit

December 6, 2014 - Consistent w/ previous note. Didn't realize I was down to 2 of these. Save the last for 2+ years and see what happens.

July 28, 2014 - First of 5 bottles. The nose is tight and rich, but suggests that decanting could have made it explode a bit more. Barnyard aromas and cedar mostly come through. On the palate, the wine confirms being rich in taste and texture, but all in a very smooth style. Tannins feel perfectly tamed! I would decant this for an hour just to get the nose going a bit more, but don’t see this necessarily getting much better with age. Great value @22$.

July 18, 2014 - The wine had an initial smell of wet cardboard, and I was concerned that it was corked. After tasting, it seemed fine but the cardboard smell persisted on the first sniff of each glass. It seemed to blow off after that. Weird.

The wine had very nice sweet raspberry and blueberry fruit characteristics and the mouthfeel was fantastic. Silky, integrated tannins on the mid palate. The finish had lovely butterscotch, mocha and cedar. Long, dry finish with lively acidic tartness.

Decanted as there was a lot of sediment. The wine peaked at about 1.5 hours in the decanter and started to decline over the next hour or so.

At its peak I would rate this wine about a 92 but probably declined to about an 89 or 90. My wife felt like it was about an 88-89 partly due to the funky nose.

June 6, 2014 - This has improved quite a bit since my last bottle about a year ago. Now the dark fruits, licorice, leather and tannins are well integrated. The mouthfeel is luscious, and the finish is long. What's not to like? Glad I have a few more!
