April 11, 2024 - This cork was soft and wet to within a couple of millimeters of the capsule. Yet it was intact and the wine was magnificent. This wine may need--and will permit--many more years of cellaring to reach full potential, but it showed magnificently tonight, of the present and future. The bouquet alone was myriad: taut cabernet, sour pine smoke, lard. The bouquet has years of maturity ahead. The plate is perfectly balanced but a bit dry and a bit rough. Whether or not this could attain the glycerous smoothness of a top growth remains to be seen. But it is a wonderful expression of a classic Bordeaux. Excellent terroir married to an iconoclastic proprietor.
January 18, 2024 - Nez sur les épices au départ. Évolue vers des notes de terre, ferme. En bouche puissant, ample. Tanins encore bien présents mais aucunement agressif. Le vin s assouplit au fil de temps. Final sur le cuir. Longueur moyenne. Bien agreable
November 27, 2023 - Ein jetzt schon sehr schöner, klassischer Linksufer-Bdx. Bereits schön gereift, aber braucht noch 5 Jahre bis zum Genuss-Höhepunkt. In der Nase sehr viel gereifter als auf der Zunge. Am Gaumen süßes Holz, Cassis, Graphit, das Tannin gibt einwenig Struktur, im Abgang eine freundliche, aber nicht übermäßige Médoc-Würze. Am 1. Abend ein deutlich wässeriges Gefühl, am 2. Abend – also mit mehr Luft – entwickelt sich eine tolle Dichte, die in den nächsten Jahren sicher noch einwenig zunehmen wird. 90-91 Pkte
November 23, 2023 - Part of a 2020-1995 Verticale. Sadly a slight issue with the cork, hence no rating. But behind the curtain an excellent vintage in the making, with remarkable balance and charm, toast, tobacco, chocolate, menthol, liquorice aromas and pleasant cask finish. It will be a delight in another 5 years.

September 10, 2023 - Incredibly young color, almost ruby red at the core and only with weak hints of amber at the rim. Classic nose of cherries and blackcurrant with that characteristic tone of warm tiles and earth. Some coffee and vanilla just adds complexity. Medium bodied attack with lots of blackcurrant and cherries up front. The wine expands on the mid palate, including tones of coffee, newly baked bread, hints of warm earth at the end. Silky tannins and fine acidity make up a perfect balance, lifting the wine to a long and very balanced finish. This is elegant and sophisticated, especially in a warm year like 2009. Perfect to drink now and will not benefit much from further aging (of you're not into tertiary Bdx). Extremely good value for Bdx-
