August 22, 2014 - Glorious. Exceptional wine, no rush but fun to try now.

July 7, 2014 - Bottle no. 3 of 6. Extremely pure, quite light and utterly elegant. Little complexity, more to come, but drinking excellent right now. If You have some, don't miss out on it in this phase. Near perfect match for panna cotta with fresh raspberry-coulis. (92-95 pts.)

May 31, 2014 - Plain yellow; nice sweet exotic fruit, pineapple; lovely rounded, sweet, good acidity, very nice taste; golden liquid, notes of pear; very very good

April 20, 2014 - This seemed a little young and primary but it was still enjoyable. On the sweet side but very nice acidity cuts the sweetness on the midpalate. With time pineapple flavors added to the honey and light citrus.

December 29, 2013 - Realized I had opened a bottle of this at Thanksgiving dinner a month ago at the mother-in-laws'. We all tried about a third of the bottle then corked it and into the fridge it went. Showed up for Xmas celebration and lo and behold, the bottle was still in the fridge. Never wrote a note from a month ago; feared the wine might be shot but . . . .

Color: brilliant light straw yellow. Striking nose showing excellent levels of botrytis, pineapple, lemon rind, honey, peaches and a little lime zest. Palate was atypically plump for Daene; it's been quite a long time since I've tasted this level of viscosity and sweetness in DD. Comes across with quite the mineral element; peach, some apple pie spice, a little amaretto. Oak treatment is quite deft. This is a powerhouse but still has incredible nervosity; perfect acidity and stupendous length. Redguy has it right, this is downright sexy! This will no doubt be thrilling to follow over the next 20+ years. Well worth the effort to search out and purchase if looking for a reasonably priced '09.

(Château Doisy-Daëne (Barsac)) Beautiful purity here, with pineapple and citrus fruits, elegant and fresh, with a really attractive style. There is a really fine weight to this on the palate, supple and rather more weighty and creamy, with softer and sweeter edges than I expected from a Barsac. There is some good grip in the middle though, coming in beneath the fine fruit. More crystalline elements on a second taste, with star fruit, perhaps a little more typical of Barsac, but also nuances of lychee, honey and cinnamon, so overall this is a very rich and expressive wine. Nevertheless there is plenty of good acidity beneath the fruit too.

(Chateau Doisy-Daëne Barsac) Residual sugar 155 g/l and 15% Sauvignon Blanc in the assemblage. A fabulously vibrant nose here, with melded crystals of honey and aromatic yellow fruits. A rather fat start on the palate, although it is composed and also rather floral, rich and elegant with a nice acidic cut. Great harmony here. This is very fine indeed.
