February 23, 2017 - I heard comments about brown tinge in this, but I didn't see it.
Fully mature merlot, fruit toned down and acids fully intefrated
Nice
March 23, 2016 - Nose of cherry, tobacco, bright red fruit
Palate is very smooth, rich to the end
Sweet tobacco, secondary flavors with some good fruit mixed in
Drinking at peak in my opinion.
Would buy again
November 1, 2015 - The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry, plum and black currant (cassis). It tastes like cherry and plum. The body is medium/full. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.
September 28, 2015 - This tasted like a different wine than I remember it from 2+ years ago. (Would have put it at 91 then.) Back then it had pleasant vanilla cream notes that paired well with its enjoyable Merlot-ness. That isn't my general preference wine these days, but on occasion I still enjoy that style. Back then it was also well-balanced, but on night 1 now the cream notes were gone and oddly it tasted a little disjointed and on some sips had a touch of heat. Unexpectedly, on night 2 a nice balance emerged and it was better overall, a point about which my wife concurred. 87 for second night.
December 22, 2013 - Excellent. Went fast so I just got a taste but it's still going strong. Outstanding QPR.
October 14, 2012 - Deep garnet color. Floral and vanilla to nose. Medium body. Start of tart berry that leads to an earthy middle. Medium finish of black cherry and spice. Very good transitions. Decanted for hour before serving. Definite buy again. Good solid merlot
May 14, 2012 - Much better than the first bottle...maybe needed an hour or so of air
April 28, 2012 - I tasted this wine after it was open for a few hours at room temp.
In Appearance, this wine was clear and a medium+, maybe a deep, ruby with heavy legs.
The Nose here was clean and of medium intensity and aromas of dark fruits, like black cherry, some sweet vanilla, and a bit of smoke and cedar.
The Palate was dry and medium+ in body with fairly big alcohol levels at medium+, about medium- acidity and tannin, making it fairly full in the mouth, but very lush and soft. The flavor intensity was about medium with dark fruit again predominating, notes of plum and cherry, some mocha notes, toasty spice, and a touch of leather. The finish is about medium in length.
Overall, for $17, this is a really good wine with great QPR. It is drinking now really well and won't hold for much longer, because it doesn't have that much acidity and tannin.
April 22, 2012 - Nice Merlot and solid value. Vanilla, earth and dark fruits, with some medium oak touches. From established WA chateau.
