August 3, 2023 - Dynamite! Like Lemon meringue pie, with tart lemon, some creamy singed notes, and flaky crust. The constant tart acidity was really the game changer, giving this a pure and lively personality. My only bottle of the ‘08, but yet another liquid seal of approval for Rhys Alpine.

October 24, 2021 - Flat out terrific! I try not to make comparisons with California chardonnay and white Burgundy, but it was hard not to with this. Pitch perfect wine, with a creamy texture, excellent acidity, and a long, complex finish.

July 31, 2021 - Dark straw. Other recent notes describe this well. There's depth and richness without being big and mouthfilling, and excellent, even bright, acidity and mineral cut. The finish is energetic and long. Compared to a recent '07 Alpine Chard, this was not as complex on the nose or palate. But it also seemed like it was drinking considerably younger. I would expect this to continue to develop over the next few years and will hold my remaining bottle for some time.

June 8, 2021 - Wow, such richness, and various flavors. There was butterscotch, there was slight citrus and honeysuckle, there was a hint of oak and vanilla. Enjoyed ove a few hours, never got to warm and that lept the texture full on the mouth and the color was an amzing golden. I can't recommend drinking this any later than RIGHT NOW, lol. Seriously enjoy this wine this summer/fall and I think you will be glad you did

February 27, 2021 - Amazing nose immediately after pulling the cork. Some pineapple and ripe apple with hazelnut and butterscotch. Smoky oak tones and lush texture on the palate. Minerals and acid keeps it fresh. Very special wine that is perfectly balanced and clearly at peak. Wow! My cool cellar has allowed this wine to shine 12+ years after the harvest. I wish I could afford to have more Rhys wines in my cellar.

January 1, 2021 - Amazing energy for this 13 year old wine. Cloudy pale straw color. Pineapple core, green apple, apricot, lemon-lime. Great lingering finish.

July 20, 2020 - Light gold color. Nose of apple core, white pear, citrus, and a hint of peach. Layers of grapefruit, pear, apple, white peach, and apricot on the finely etched palate with bracing cut and stony spine. Excellent acidity and superb delineation of fruit. Longer finish of lemon-lime, apricot, and flinty stone coming together with satisfying harmony and resolution. No excess body fat on this one.

November 4, 2019 - I completely concur with the review by Burgundy Mitch. For me, this reminded me of a Girardin Corton Charlemagne of similar age consumed a few years back. I have nothing to add re: detailed impressions, since the prior reviewer so nicely captured the essence of this wine. I am evidently a couple points more enthusiastic.

October 17, 2019 - This is an excellent Domestic Chardonnay done in a very Burgundian style. Chiseled, mineral inflected lemon lime, white peach, quince flavors with excellent cut, density, depth and length. Not your typically fatty from Ca. If you are looking for your heavy vanilla/oak rounded Ca Chard you will not find it here, but this could be a good ringer in a flight of Puilly Fusse or St.Veran. Great effort here from the Rhys team.
