December 15, 2023 - Chocolate, blueberry and green fresh herbs on the nose - really amazing, fruit still very present, palate is acidic and a bit lacking in tannin at this point. Wish I had tried it younger. Higher recommended even now

October 11, 2023 - Dinner at The French Laundry with Heer, Terry and Diane. Thanks to them for bringing this classy bottle. Couldn’t believe it’s an ‘07.
Somm suggested decant in smaller carafe. Tasted brilliant all evening long. Classic PH beauty. Complete and balance showing very little age.
    What a night!

    April 3, 2023 - Beautiful. Drinking incredibly right now. Score [ 50 + 5 + 14 + 18 + 8 ] = 95.

February 5, 2022 - Truffle fries, sweet, opulent, dense and long. Just no-questions-asked delicious!

December 18, 2021 - This ripe and rustic mountain Cabernet lacks the finesse of more recent vintages, but it's quite tasty at the moment. Dark purple in color and full in body, the wine offers aromas of boysenberry, cherry liqueur, milk chocolate, and gravel. Flavors of blackberry, mocha, peppercorn, and bay leaf, with a grainy yet sweet finish. Blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. 14.8% alcohol. This unraveled after a few hours, so I’d advise against extensive decanting.

This suffered from being tasted on the same night as an epic 2007 Abreu Madrona, so I’m not sure many wines could have kept up. I've preferred more recent Ovid vintages - such as the 2008, 2012, 2015 - so give these a try if you are curious (and adjust according to your aging preferences). As time as gone on, Austin Peterson has down a great job balancing the wildness of the site with a modern (and welcoming) approach. 94+ at the moment, but drink in next few years.
