February 4, 2018 - Delicate spice box, licorice, dried rose petal, briary scents, more minerality with air time come about with red cherry fruit base. Whiff of hoisin with more time in the glass; elegant structure, fine tannin. Lacks a bit of focus to take you to the next level imo. Pretty, fruity Vosne.

October 10, 2017 - A nose that immediately screamed bordeaux. Has just turned into its secondary phase in the nose. Some coffee too. Cherries and coffee on the palette. Medium bodied.

June 19, 2015 - Beautiful plummy, candy like fruit with oriental spice and a hint of smokiness.

March 23, 2015 - Darkly colored; black fruited, very ripe with baking spices, notes of soil and iron. Extracted and with tannic toughness and plenty of zippy acid too. May emerge on the other side with more redeeming qualities but high risk. Loads of sediment. Seems to have been "made" rather than grown.

October 15, 2014 - Just a wednesday evening in Leiden: Nose with dark fruit, sous-bois, some meat tones. Taste also dark fruit, good concentration, very balanced, spice and minerals. Long finish. Still a good amount of acidity, appears younger than most 2000 wines. Drinks very well now.

May 14, 2014 - Very, very ripe. Nose of violets, purple and alcohol! Very extracted although it did calm a bit with air. Cali PN anyone? Not really my style.

February 4, 2014 - It was surprisingly alcoholic and dark fruited for a 2000. None of the Vosne spice. Didn't like it much. My wife liked it, but she doesn't normally like red burgundy (she's more of a Rhone/Bordeaux sort of person). All bass notes, if that makes sense. Guigal does Vosne, in a way.

I'll keep the rest of the pack for 5 years and hope that it blossoms into something a bit more restrained representative of its terroir.

September 12, 2012 - A few bottles on Wednesday (Dave's House): Popped and poured, followed over approximately 1 hour. Deep garnet colour in the glass. On the nose, notes of black cherries, brown sugar, dried fruits, undergrowth, blood, crushed rocks and suggestions of cured meat. Unfortunately, this had a slightly oxidative character, despite immaculate storage, that overlaid the nose and palate with notes of lightly bruised fruit. On the palate, the oxidation was more of an issue, as it really lingers on the finish. Structurally, there is still a bit of tannic grip, with a decent vein of acidity. I expect a sound bottle would have been much more pleasurable, as there was a lot to like behind the flaw.
