August 8, 2012 - As some previous TNs have noted, you could think this was sort of an intro level CDP. Excellent bottle, Well-balanced. It got a little hot toward the end (maybe the alcohol content), but it was well worth letting this one age for a while.
April 8, 2012 - Amazing. This is prime ready to drink right now. Gorgeous color and complex nose. Tastes of leather and hoof. A delight!
October 1, 2009 - Maybe I'm odd, but I love the balance-of-ripe-cherry-meets-raisin. Tannins? I can't even remember..must try again soon, which won't be difficult having up and bought 2 cases at a price that could not be refused. Suggestive of CdP? maybe I exaggerate, but awfully, awfully delightful.
June 19, 2009 - Funky nose of sour cherry and gaminess. Notes of tar and salt and a bit of garrigue. Really wild nose. I liked it.
Medium bodied and somewhat feral. Nice red fruit. Some sour cherry and berries. The finish had a vein of salt running through it.
I thought it was more interesting on the nose than to drink.
June 17, 2009 - Raspberry, fresh and fruity, vibrant still and quite tasty.
August 22, 2008 - My first taste of this wine-- and better than other's comments to my palate. Yes, it is a little hot (14%) but the fruit is not jammy as other 03's, and the alcohol is not over the top-- much more CdP than CdR.
March 20, 2006 - I loved the 2001, but, for me, the 2003 is not at the same level. Overripe. Raspberry jam and mildly raisiny. Some obvious heat.
October 23, 2005 - this wine is hot and i don't mean sexy. it is also quite tannic and teeth coating. the fruit is there but it is being pinned down by the large amounts of fresh cut wood that dominates this wine. wet stones, and a soft spiceness finish off this wine. i bet this will be better tomorrow. i think this wine could be really good if it can get out from under the wood. revisit in a year or so.
June 9, 2005 - Very high on alcohol, but then again there's loads of tannins, wood and fruit that could integrate one day to make up for an interesting wine at this level. However right now, the wine seemed out of balance. It may still be in it's bottle shock. I think it's good to wait about a year before opening another bottle.
April 11, 2005 - Very charming with an impressive length for a CdR - compared to others, this one clearly is an expression of a specific terroir. Very nice.
