Community Tasting Notes 13

June 19, 2016 - On one of my first stops at WC, the 02 Merlot sold me on this quality winery. Several years later I ordered 2 bottles from their library and on Fathers Day we opened one. It's a mature wine as expected with a dark amber/ruby tone. The body is surprisingly light. The nose still carries Bing cherry. The tannins are firm and tastes include chocolate and cherry flavors and a long chocolate finish. The wine is mature but should still be drinking well for a few more years.

    April 9, 2010 - Opened on a Friday evening...Subtle nose & earthy. Like it!

February 8, 2010 - Smell is light, a bit musty before swirling in the glass but a plummy smell is released upon swirling. Initial taste sensation is fairly smooth, watery, a touch bitter but like the plums that were released in the smell, more flavor quickly follows. The wine is dry, tastes a bit like chalk, that bitterness keeps coming back which doesn't thrill me but it's not too overwhelming. I'm struggling to find real character in this wine. It's either too old and has dissipated or it was simply never there leaving me pretty darn disappointed, especially for a wine in this price range. It's weak.

August 18, 2009 - Lovely, cherry/currant/blackberry, a bit of dust, kept getting better over2 hours.
