April 25, 2024 - PnP. Bordeaux like with more fruit and less earth/wood. Velvety texture but lighter and thinner than expected. Wouldn’t turn down a glass.

April 14, 2024 - A really strong showing this weekend. Our bottle was a blend of the 2016 and 2017 vintage and was decanted for 2 hours prior to dinner. This was showing pronounced flavor intensity with a restrained ripeness of fruit more akin to a ripe left bank Bordeaux rather than Napa. Very well integrated use of new french oak which added to the flavor complexity of the wine. A medley of dark black fruit, toasted cedar, and savory spices.

April 4, 2024 - Tasty with Marin French Breakfast Brie. It brought out a salted caramel flavor to the Brie and enhanced the wine. I usually enjoy this cheese with an oaked Chardonnay but found this equally good with this. Consistently good wine each time I try this.

February 16, 2024 - Anticipated more. Has all the qualities on the nose, however is underwheling for the QPR. It did develop over a couple hours so I’m hoping a couple more years will do wonders. .

February 12, 2024 - Napa and Sonoma, January 2024: Tasted at winery.

Nose is mellow, with lemon-chocolate and spice. Easy to drink, some spicy notes, meaningfully less complex than the other Opus wines. It's good, but the QPR is a little off here.

February 9, 2024 - Historically an enjoyable second bottle from Opus, until the price went bonkers ($150+) as other posters have noted. For this reason, the QPR is low and the rating must take a hit. Deep burgundy in color, the palate is comprised of forest floor, baking spice, licorice and mellowed black fruit, ultimately finishing a bit short and lacking the nuance of other wines at this price point. With such a large departure from the flagship wine, it fits a different category, which should be reflected in the cost. Still a solid juice, but there are a plethora of other worthy options out there that punch well above their weight.

February 1, 2024 - Smells great. Touches of wood and tobacco. The alcohol is present in the aroma, but doesn’t cut through the deeper flower scents that are present. Tastes quite nice. You get some dark fruits, blueberry, plum, and black cherry. Theres a hint of ripe nectarine. Silky. Round. Decent tannins. Not a long finish. This is a wine you will definitely enjoy, but you won’t brag about it as being a favorite. 90-91.

January 21, 2024 - An older version (have cellared for probably 8-10 years), I was excited to try an aged multi vintage Bordeaux blend because I believe more top producers could and should be putting out multi vintage blends just like in Champagne in order to produce a great consistent product and mitigate vintage risk. I enjoyed the bottle with dark red fruit, silky mouthfeel, still tannins present and long finish but no way should this be a $150+ bottle, as maybe that is the Opus premium (I don’t think Opus is worth it for the cost either). At $150, an aged Lynch Bages would blow this away and my much cheaper Pride Napa 2014’s do as well. Still, cool to try and I enjoyed the wine but the pricing is off…
