February 1, 2017 - From Art's cellar. Once again, dining alone so I took what I thought would be a "gamble bottle" with me to the restaurant. I hit the Lotto. On decanting, the entire room filled with a deep black currant and vanilla aroma that evoked comments from other diners (I shared with them and staff). The wine was completely dark from bowl to rim, despite its age. I was so amazed at the color that I took a picture of the bowl over a white napkin with my phone and relayed it to a few wine-geek buddies. After an hour in the decanter, the nose was not as overwhelming but was still wonderful. In the mouth, deep, deep fruit, more vanilla and great balance, though the acid let you know it was there. Long finish. Wow! Sorry I wasted it on a solo dining experience.

July 9, 2016 - Cellar raiding at Jeff's: Liked but didn't love this. The red and dark fruited flavours here still seem quite youthful, and are framed by powerful minty/herbal notes and that slightly oaky "Draper perfume", though there isn't a great deal of complexity or depth here - very good, but a bit below my expectations for old Ridge.

December 13, 2012 - 1982 Bordeaux vs. California Cabernets (Tasted Blind) (Tom's house in Palo Alto, California): This was a little bit corked, but you could still appreciated what was underneight.
    Nose: B Palate: B My #6, Group's #8 (95 pts) Tasted blind

December 13, 2012 - Blind Tasting 1982 Bordeaux vs. California Cabernets (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Slightly corked. A few disagreed but it ranked second to last in front of another flawed wine. (my 8th, group's 8th)

September 7, 2011 - Pretty much dead on the palate, nose was decent enough.
