December 28, 2015 - Decanted for 2 hours brought to Christmas dinner and consumed 2 hours later. Layers of dark rich fruit with moderate acidity and a long finish. The wine continued to open over the following hour. A Tuscan beauty. Avvoltore is a blend of 75% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah.

October 20, 2015 - A week in Tuscany (and Lots of wines); 10/19/2015-10/21/2015 (Tuscany, Italy): Off the list in a restaurant in Montespertoli, Tuscany. My favorite winery name in Italy. And this wine is just as good. IIRC, this is a Cab/sangiovese blend (maybe other stuff too). Ruby/purple in color. The nose has cassis and cherries with anise, white pepper and charred earth. On the palate, this is in a good spot. Cassis and cherries with mocha notes. Layers of complexity. Nice balance. Lovely texture. Long finish. Great with our dinner. Around 65 Euros off the list and well worth it.

March 6, 2015 - Old World Blind Tasting Group $40+ (Bin 75): Darker core with garnet rim; rich nose of black currant, green pepper, licorice, spicy; palate smoother than nose suggests, fresh fruit, seamless texture; best example of this to date, very good.

October 3, 2014 - Was expecting a bit more from traditionally one of my ST favorites. Nose was pretty closed off, with some black licorice and spice begging to come out. Firmer tannins that I remember, but excellent structure and you can see the pedigree. Was hoping for a little more fruit.

April 4, 2014 - Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Roswell, GA): Dull garnet with bright lake rim; faint nose of cherry, raspberry, orangey acidity, fresh, soft texture, fine tannin; tasty, called Sangio but not BdM, best bottle of this yet.
