December 8, 2023 - This vintage was the birth year of my eldest son. I bought several dozen bottles when the wine was 2 years old and they have been cellared perfectly in a commercial cellar. I have written several notes on the wine on Cellar Tracker over the years. It his 16th birthday and he is sampling 1/2 a glass with me. He is also writing notes.
The wine has improved with time. It retains it's introspective feminine nature and although it is from Australia's Margaret River region it most closely resembles the St Julien subregion of the left bank in Bourdeaux.
A beautiful wine that has gracefully evolved over 16 years.
Appearance: Mahogany edge. Semi-opaque.

February 19, 2022 - Really enjoyable Cab blend drinking at its peak. Fragrant black fruit but not too dark, cedar, bramble and some earthiness. Excellent balance good line and length and fine acidity. Refined. Tannins are smooth, almost silky. Excellent QPR.

September 4, 2021 - Drinking at its peak I would say. Decanted an drunk soon after, deep garnet colour still very clear, no sediment, silky smooth tannins and lovely long taste right down the middle.

May 25, 2021 - Screwcap, 13.5% alc. Dark crimson.
Deep, rich, and fruity aroma, with blackcurrant and raspberry, bay leaves, wet gravel, ink, and supporting cedar.
The wine hits the mouth with a burst of dark-fruited flavour. Some sweet raspberry and autumn leafiness remains on the aftertaste. Fine dusty tannins.
Opinion: The palate is impressively rich for a 14 year old “second wine” from Margaret River. Still relatively primary, though it has fleshed out of lot compared with earlier bottles. Drinking well, but no rush.
67% Cabernet, 17% Merlot, 16% Malbec. 18 months in French Oak. -

May 1, 2021 - Smells of tamarillo, something quite distinct about Margaret River cabernet blends. This isn’t too much so, it’s darker fruited than that on the palate.
Needs some breathing, it’s still fresh (for 14 yo).
13.5%, screwcap.
