A whole 6 years since the last, so let's do a fresh note...brickish garnet color with transparency. Aromas of mushroom, earth, dusty cedar chest, dark fruits, lemon, orange, fresh herbs, potpourri, anise, and dry tea leaves. No complaints there. Medium (+) body, acid, and finish, with flavors of high toned red fruits like cranberry and cherry, bitter orange peel, a fair amount of lingering oak spice, lemon, and minerals. Really solid pinot that's drinking well. Sadly my last bottle, but could probably last another few years as well.

Wonderfully balanced Sta. Rita Hills pinot. Dark fruit inflected, but with some red currant notes, secondary flavors have developed, still lots of fruit. Smooth tannins not fully resolved. Some spice, earth, and evergreen on the nose. Long finish. Matured, but no reason to rush drinking any remaining bottles.

So very delicious! Lots of earth and mineral framed by some nice cherry and pomegranate. After some air it's firmed up a bit, and developed some sense of crushed rock and flowers and herbs. Excellent.

I actually liked this wine, much to my surprise. It's big, ripe, and somewhat alcoholic, but the fruit is so big and exuberant that I couldn't help but smile. Plus, it does taste something like pinot noir, with ripe red cherry and strawberry dominating. Good acidity still holding all that together, and well integrated tannins.

Full-bodied Pinot with cherry, cranberry, a little red raspberry and a vanilla finish. Great mouth feel and a medium long finish.
