Sunday, May 5, 2013 - After tasting this a few years ago, I was lucky enough to find another well stored bottle, and it provided an even more compelling experience this time. Tawny, pale color-fully mature. Incredible, evolving array of aromatics-just a brief whiff of VA that quickly blew off, sandalwood, burnt sugar, wafting strawberry fruit, citrus peel, menthol and clove. In a word, wow! Delicate, ethereal feel with superb acidity and very little remaining tannin. Long and gently sweet. This improved and the fruit blossomed over 2 hours before it reversed course and began to fade a bit. Amazing in every respect at age 43, and a peak old wine drinking experience. I've had the chance to drink some extraordinary aged wines over the past month; none of them were better than this.
