Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - High-end Nebbiolo-Tasting @ home. Double-decanted and slow-oxed for 6 hours. Deep ruby color. Very classy nose of red fruit (raspberries, strawberries, red cherries), some figs, flowers (rose/violet), a touch of smoke and coffee and tobacco (big time!). Hits the palate with incredible aromatic complexity (tobacco, minerality, red fruits, flowers, but also some leather). Full-bodied and dense, but in a very weightless and elegant style. High tannins (silky) and a high acidity provide a beautiful classic Barolo-frame. Very long and complex finish. This is still an infant, but an incredible example of the heights Nebbiolo can reach when it's in the right hands. I was blown away by the beauty of this wine. Drink between 2018 and 2030.
