Tuesday, May 6, 2014 - Nose: There is a restrained ripeness to the nose with blueberries, red cherries, brambly notes, blue fruits, and some black pepper tones.
Taste: Full bodied with medium acidity and noticeable tannins. The structure isn't overbearing, but it's there along with blueberries, red cherries, pepper, some bacon fat notes, and a touch of blue fruits.
Overall: This is a well balanced Syrah. There is good fruit to it, but it's balanced with a nice peppery touch as well. This needed the 2 1/2 hours of air it got as it was certainly on the plusher side upon opening.
