Friday, May 9, 2014 - Decanted a 750mL for 45 minutes, then was in the glass for over an hour during dinner (beef tartare, wood-roasted cobia collar, duck a la presse, roasted veggies), and opened up as would be expected during that time. Initial nose was fruit forward and the little bit of alcohol harshness that there was burned off very quickly in the decanter. Wine itself was well structured with well integrated tannins. Even with 22 yrs of age, was sufficient acidity to give it some backbone. Medium finish of red and black fruit, though probably would have been more vibrant a few years ago. Not sure there is much benefit to letting this sit any longer, as it seems to lack the nuance of other well-aged cabs I have had.
