89 Points

Saturday, November 3, 2012 - PnP, enjoyed with friends.
A clear wine, med(+) ruby in color, holding its color to the rim.
On the nose, the wine is clean and in good condition, showing a youthful nose of aromas including pure and bright, crunchy red fruits and a peppery spice.
On the palate, the wine is dry, with med body and med(+) alcohol, med acidity, and med(+) tannins that are a bit dry and astringent. The flavors are med(+) intensity, and include raspberry, red cherry, menthol, strawberry, and moist soil, leading into a med length, very nice finish. This is a great, slightly rustic CdR made as a second label to Beaucastel.
The wine is very good quality, and is drinking very nicely now, but will benefit from aging for the next 5-7 years.
