Thursday, November 29, 2012 - Bad news: this vintage is probably not widely available. Good news is if you have some of it on hand, excellent Pinot for under $20. The nose was an in your face bowl of fruit-cherries and strawberries (nose was a 92). Appearance was not as thin as one expects for a Pinot. Taste was delicate, yet slightly assertive fruit, earthy/wood/minerality (taste was a 90). On the fence as to whether too young or not...initial thoughts are better in 2013 and 2014, as we decanted and it improved. Saving the other two bottles... Would highly recommend for a red sipping wine that will leave you wanting more, I didn't do so well on the food pairing (food too spicy), maybe lighter appetizers-non spicy! This winery is part of the Jess Jackson (Kendall-Jackson) Estate, but they are making great wines for the money.
