I guess I actually contributed to that low scoring with an 88 a while back. All I can say is that this wine has really come together in the intervening time. There was bright fruit and spice on the nose and palate. The wine followed a fun trajectory of change on the nose from a little bit smoky, then on to hints anise to a period of full blown anise, all while the fruit held up with cherry hints all the way. The acid and tannin balance was in excellent shape, a good reflection that the 2006 vintage is pretty much ready to enjoy.
