Sunday, November 3, 2013 - Opened and decanted 9+ hours and drank with dinner of roasted garlic pork loin, steamed vegetables, and baked sweet potato. Dark, cherry/garnet color. Nose of eucalyptus, sweet tobacco, cranberries, lavender, spicy oak and herbs. Concentrated palate follows with dried cherries, leather, subtle blackberry currant, black licorice, and dark raspberry tobacco. This is a medium-bodied, Bordeaux-like wine but has a greater touch of vanilla from the American oak. Finish is very compact but very refined. Strong acidity flows throughout and adds a nice touch pairing with rich food, so decant for as long as I did if you drink today. Will probably be best after 2017.
