Friday, May 29, 2015 - This wine exceeded expectations. Decanted for about 2+ hours before dinner of grilled BBQ chicken, rice, and salad. Very dark, purple violet color. Nose brings a distinctive mix of wet clay, blackberries, olives, rose petals, raspberries, leather, and some dark cherry menthol. The palate is square, jagged, full-bodied, and extremely concentrated, bringing more blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, sweet tobacco, cherry cobbler baking spices, fresh mint, and some touches of dried herbs. The finish is long, uneven, and very interesting - not fully developed yet - still with thick tannins. I'd drink this though 2025. It should evolve nicely.
