Friday, June 12, 2015 - A nice wine to be sure but didn't fall in love with it. A nice level of tarry sweet fruits with a raw grape character that slightly detracted from things a bit. As I get older I'm noticing that a bit with Nebbiolo in particular and it's making me less enamored with it. It did follow an awesome bottle of Chave so maybe I'm being a bit unfair? This was a nice but simpler wine and not because it was too young either. This is my favourite producer so expected more but maybe older age is causing a declining interest in the style as it was more of a wrestle than a priviledge.

6/13/2015 1:02:00 AM - Thanks. It also is a producer and wine we enjoy very much. Sorry it did not click. We thought it might be age - not you, but the wine. However, you addressed that issue. We have yet to sip our bottles as we were waiting until at least 2018. Dunno...sad to read about the wrestle as we think this usually is a wine with which you waltz!

7/5/2015 5:10:00 AM - I think it was more to do with me than anything else. Maybe with more time it will come into its own a bit more but not sure. I'm not drinking much anymore so my radar may be a little off because I usually love G.Conterno wines. The Chave we had before it could also have played a part as it was so good. A hard act to follow.
