Monday, August 27, 2012 - The first bottle pried from what Dulcie refers to as "The thousand dollar lunch": our first foray into live auction with Acker Merrall Condit; the temptation to waive the quite ordinary $95 lunch with a mere $1000 purchase proved all too much, and with one wave of the paddle it was done. Did I really know what I was doing? Was it all worth it? Of course, with Burgundy "worth it" is a highly subjective term: if you want it that bad it is worth it; and I have to say I love the name Musigny.The color is a brilliant ruby, quite light hued; the aroma at first is modest, but evolves over time to fill the glass; Dulcie used a word I cannot repeat here, but sensual comes into it, gamy intense, dark fruits; it's still young on the palate (good), dense raspberry, evident minerality, some softish tannins, lingering finish. We look forward to the evolution.
