Saturday, January 31, 2015 - Deep dark red center, red rim with only slight signs of age.
Toasty, plummy, some cassis, black raspberries, loamy earth, slight astringency, black olives
Smooth but has structure, not sweet, tart cherries and blackcurrants, sinewy, good acidity and balancing tannins, a little greenness (but pleasant for it), slightly muted middle and end. Finish is of ripe red fruits, toasty oak and green stalks.
Excellent Cab/Merlot mix (58/42) with a nod to the old world. Drinking well now but will probably be a little better in 2 years (has opened up dramatically since first bottle 5 years ago).
