Friday, July 10, 2015 - So few notes here and I have just the one bottle from 2011, but I pulled the cork out of curiosity to see where this was on the aging curve. Pulled the cork, right to the glass, no aeration, no decanting, nothing extra. With PS, I often worry about the booze level, as too much of it and I can't much function but in this wine, there isn't any coming through the aromatic. In the palate, the ripeness level is surely here, with a big dollop of dark berry, chocolate and touch of iron. Inky too, as it stains the glass. In terms of structure, there is some here and my hope is that over the next few hours that it does tighten up. Right now, there is a glimpse of it here, almost like a grape skin tannin that adds a cool coarseness to the texture. Finishes with tar and the same iron from the palate. At dinner later in the evening, this developed some nice tension and showed some great youthful tannin, which was impressive because the wine was at room temp (low 70s). I'd say this will continue to age just fine.
